Storm Poem

A Storm Rolled In
© By Mary Nida Smith
The sky darkened, clouds rushed in
to cover all light, wind ran madly
building up anger as it picked up speed
pulling off tree limbs and roof covers.
The heavy low, dark clouds opened up
drowning plants that tried to cling
strong roots to soil beds.
Rain, hail and leaves hit hard
against the windowpanes.
As quickly as the storm appeared
it disappeared, leaving its ill ways
scattered across the area
in miles in which it traveled.
